Uttar Pradesh News: Following the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in Moradabad on Saturday, a significant mishap occurred at the camp office prepared for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Tragically, one laborer from Jharkhand lost his life while 7 others sustained severe injuries due to an electric shock. The injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at a private hospital in the city.
Details of the Accident:
CO Katghar Rudra Pratap Singh disclosed that Rahul Gandhi was expected to arrive in Moradabad on Friday night for an overnight stay before commencing his journey the next morning. A camp office was set up for him on an undeveloped plot within an under-construction factory opposite Nawab Restaurant on the National Highway in the Katghar police station region. Despite arrangements being in place for Rahul Gandhi’s stay, security clearance from CRPF was not obtained, leading to the cancellation of his visit on Friday night. Consequently, the camp office remained unused. On Saturday morning, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi traveled directly from Delhi to Moradabad, continuing their journey to Amroha, Sambhal, and eventually Dibai, a town in Bulandshahr.
Laborer Incident During Dismantling:
After Rahul Gandhi’s departure, laborers from Jharkhand were dismantling the camp office. During the removal of a watchtower, a worker accidentally came into contact with a high-tension line, resulting in electric shock injuries for 8 individuals. The injured workers were promptly transferred to a nearby private hospital.
Identification of Deceased and Injured:
The CO confirmed that two of the injured individuals were in critical condition. Unfortunately, Naresh Turi (55 years old), hailing from Katakpuri police station, Simatia district, Chatra Jharkhand, passed away during treatment that night. His younger brother Chhotu Turi, along with Sakaldeep Turi, Janaki Yadav, Ghanshyam Kumar Turi, Laluturi, Lakshmi Kumar Singh, and Ashok Yadav, are currently under medical care at a private hospital in Moradabad.
