Five individuals, including two engineers, were killed in a tragic accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura. The collision between their car and a private bus resulted in both vehicles being completely burned. The incident occurred in the Mahavan police station area, approximately 117 km from the starting point of the expressway, at around 8:02 am on Monday. The victims were identified as Jayad Khan, Shivkishan Rawat, Himanshu Yadav, Anshuman Yadav, and Sarvar Hussain, all residents of Firozabad district. They regularly commuted from Firozabad to Noida or Delhi for work. The bus, which was a double-decker sleeper named ‘BR02 AA 6496,’ was traveling from Gaya in Bihar to Delhi, while the car, a Swift with license plate ‘DL 9C 9726,’ driven by Anshuman, was heading towards Noida from the Agra side. At the time of the accident, the bus had approximately 55 passengers, with 11 of them sustaining injuries. The injured passengers received medical treatment, with five still undergoing treatment and the rest discharged after receiving first aid. The accident occurred when the bus had a burst tire, causing it to stop across the first, second, and third lanes on the right side of the road. The car traveling from Agra collided with the stationary bus, immediately catching fire. Unfortunately, all five occupants of the car were fatally burned. However, the passengers of the bus were safely evacuated. The fire tenders took approximately 30 minutes to arrive, but by then, the car passengers had already perished. The accident site was cleared almost five and a half hours later, at 1:30 pm. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem, and legal action is being taken in the matter.
