The Uttar Pradesh government has provided significant relief regarding the ‘Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ scheme. The government has increased the amount provided under the scheme from INR 15,000 to INR 25,000. The Yogi government, which is advancing the mission of women empowerment, had made provisions in the 2024-25 budget to increase the amount provided under the ‘Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ in six installments or categories. According to the provisions made in the budget, the amount has now been increased in all six categories. The Department of Women Welfare started the ‘Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ in the state from April 2019 with the aim of ending female feticide, establishing gender equality, preventing child marriages, promoting the health and education of girls, providing assistance in making girls self-reliant, and developing positive thinking about the birth of a girl in society. Currently, eligible girls receive an amount of INR 15,000 in six installments.
Benefit for all eligible daughters
According to the department’s director Sandeep Kaur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an increase in the total amount received in the six categories of the ‘Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ from INR 15,000 to INR 25,000 starting from the financial year 2024-25. In view of the Chief Minister’s announcement, a decision has been taken to increase the amount due in six different categories under the scheme for all eligible beneficiaries. Accordingly, the amount given at the time of the birth of a daughter has been increased from INR 2,000 to INR 5,000.
Similarly, instead of INR 1,000, INR 2,000 will now be given when the vaccination is completed at the age of one year. Likewise, for admission to Class 1, Class 6, and Class 9, instead of INR 1,000, INR 2,000 will be given. Finally, for passing the 10th or 12th grade and for admission to a two-year or longer duration diploma or graduate program, the amount will be increased from INR 5,000 to INR 7,000.
