After being injured in a road accident, 23-year-old youth Sachin Sharma was admitted to the trauma ward of SMS for treatment. He has died and the family members have accused the hospital administration that Sachin died due to wrong blood transfusion. Family members say that Sachin’s blood group was O positive, but the hospital staff transfused him with AB positive blood, due to which both of Sachin’s kidneys got damaged.Talking about the case, the family members of deceased Sachin said that during the operation, the sample and slip given by the hospital staff to bring blood to the family members, belonged to some other patient. The family members took blood by giving a slip in Trauma Blood Bank, this blood was AB positive, whereas Sachin’s group was O positive. After the operation, Sachin was shifted to the plastic surgery department, where when he needed blood again, the doctors again prepared a prescription for it.
When the family members of the patient reached the blood bank to collect blood, the employee present there asked the family members to take blood of some other group first. It was then that it was revealed that Sachin had been given the wrong blood transfusion earlier. Family members say that Sachin was the only earning boy of the family. His father Mahesh Sharma had kidney failure 9 months ago, due to which he is no longer able to do any work.
Giving information about the accident, the family members said that Sachin’s leg was badly crushed when he was hit by an unknown vehicle in Kotputli, for the treatment of which he was admitted to the Trauma Center of Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur. When Sachin died due to the negligence of the hospital staff, his family members sat on the road outside SMS Hospital and blocked the road.
The family members protesting say that the government should take action as soon as possible and punish the culprits and an amount of Rs 1 crore should be given to the family as compensation so that they can lead an uninterrupted life. Police have registered an FIR in this regard and started investigation. Hawamahal MLA Balmukund Acharya, who reached the spot, also talked to the family members and said that the matter should be resolved as soon as possible.
