The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi resumed from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joining her brother for the final leg of the journey in the state. The Congress announced that she will accompany Rahul Gandhi as they pass through Amroha, Sambhal, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, and conclude at Fatehpur Sikri on Sunday. People showed their support by chanting slogans like ‘Rahul Gandhi zindabad’, ‘Priyanka Gandhi zindabad’, and ‘Congress party zindabad’ as the yatra made its way through various areas of Moradabad. The Congress leaders were spotted waving to the crowd from an open jeep.
Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), is scheduled to join the Congress’ yatra in Agra on Sunday following a seat-sharing agreement between the two parties for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. According to Uttar Pradesh Congress spokesperson Manish Hindvi, the yatra was well-received as it passed through Moradabad, with people from different backgrounds extending their greetings to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Priyanka Gandhi was initially supposed to join the yatra in Chandauli when it entered Uttar Pradesh, but had to postpone her participation due to health issues and subsequent hospitalization.
The yatra is set to pause at Dholpur in Rajasthan on Sunday before resuming on March 2. During the break days from February 26 to March 1, Rahul Gandhi will fulfill prior commitments to deliver lectures at Cambridge University in the UK and attend important meetings in Delhi. The yatra will then continue into Madhya Pradesh, covering districts such as Morena, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Shajapur, and Ujjain. On March 5, Rahul Gandhi will visit the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, where he had offered prayers during his previous Bharat Jodo Yatra on November 29, 2022.
