Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a contract to establish an 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Yamunanagar, Haryana. This power plant, known as the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP), will be the first of its kind in Haryana and will operate using ultra-supercritical technology. BHEL won the order through International Competitive Bidding (ICB) and will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the plant. Once operational, the plant will offer improved efficiency and consume less coal compared to the existing subcritical units in the state. The 800 MW unit will be located adjacent to the currently operational 2×300 MW units in Yamunanagar. BHEL has previously completed over 3,000 MW of central and state thermal utility projects in Haryana.
