The 81-year-old president, who had just finished a speech on immigration and border issues, paused and appeared to be searching for the word before a reporter suggested “Hamas.” Despite the gaffe, Biden continued to discuss the negotiations and expressed concern about the age of the group’s leader.
Representative Dean Philips, who is running against Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination, shared the video and expressed his support for the president while also criticizing those who try to hide his mistakes. This is not the first time Biden has made a blunder while addressing the public since taking office in 2020. Many voters have expressed concerns about his age and ability to serve a second term if he is reelected at the age of 86.
One notable gaffe by Biden was when he claimed to have met with former French President Francois Mitterrand, who passed away in 1996. During a speech in Las Vegas, Biden mistakenly recalled a conversation with Mitterrand during a G7 meeting in 2021. He also mistakenly referred to the current president of France, Emmanuel Macron, as “Mitterrand” during the speech.
Biden has also made other mistakes, such as claiming 100 people died instead of 1 million during the COVID-19 pandemic and confusing Russia with Ukraine during a discussion about the war in Ukraine. According to a recent survey, 59% of US voters believe that Biden’s mental sharpness is declining, and many suspect that the media is covering up his cognitive decline. Despite these concerns, Biden continues to serve as President, and many continue to support him.
