State Bureau, Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commended the Uttar Pradesh Police for their efforts in changing people’s perception of the state and encouraged them to treat complainants at police stations and outposts with respect. During the inauguration of 144 projects worth Rs 2,310 crore for police infrastructure facilities at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation.
Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need for a zero-tolerance policy towards criminals while urging the police to maintain a friendly demeanor towards the public. He stressed the importance of dialogue in a democratic society.
Surprised by Past Government Decisions
The Chief Minister lauded the behavior of policemen during events like the Kumbh Mela, stating that they had won the hearts of visitors. He also expressed astonishment at the previous government’s decision to disband 54 PAC companies.
Yogi Adityanath highlighted the transformation of Uttar Pradesh from a state plagued by curfews and riots before 2017 to a more stable state under his administration. He reinstated the dissolved UP PAC companies, which now effectively handle riot situations.
At the ceremony, the Chief Minister motivated police officers and personnel to adapt to changing times. He emphasized the need for law enforcement to be responsive to the issues faced by the general public.
Significant Funding for UP Police in Six Years
Under our government, substantial funding has been allocated to provide modern facilities to police officers who work long hours, including 24-hour shifts during special events. Over the past six years, Rs 18 to 20 thousand crores have been dedicated solely to enhancing infrastructure for the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Currently, the tallest multi-storey building in several cities, excluding metros, is the newly constructed barracks and hostels in police lines. Additionally, a remarkable 1.60 lakh recruitments and 1.50 lakh promotions have been implemented within the police force.
During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated cybercrime police stations in the remaining 57 districts and established cyber cells in all 1,532 police stations. While 18 cybercrime units are already operational at the regional level.
Victims of cybercrime will now have access to dedicated support without having to travel to different districts. Yogi Adityanath also launched anti-corruption organization police stations at 18 divisional headquarters, anti-corruption organization units in eight districts, and tourism police stations in Prayagraj and Kushinagar. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna emphasized the importance of ensuring a welcoming environment at police stations.
Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra, DGP Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad, DG Cyber Crime Subhash Chandra, and other officials attended the program.
