Haryana Budget 2024: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Kahttar of Haryana presented the final budget of his second term in the state Assembly on Friday, making several significant announcements focused on state development.
Top Announcement – Haryana Budget 2024:
450 AC Electric Buses: The AC electric bus service has been initiated in Panipat and Yamunanagar by the Haryana City Bus Service Corporation Limited, and it will commence in Karnal and Panchkula in mid-March 2024. City bus services are expected to start in the remaining five cities by June 2024, with a total of 450 AC electric buses in operation. Additionally, a one-time fee for e-rickshaws will be imposed instead of an annual fee, considering the rising concerns over air pollution in the National Capital Region and the requests from e-rickshaw owners.
Electric Scooter for Girls: To support the higher education of construction workers’ daughters, a scheme has been introduced to offer financial aid of Rs 50,000 or the actual ex-showroom price of an electric scooter, whichever is lower, as announced by the CM.
Credit-Guarantee for Gig Worker: A new scheme is proposed to provide a credit guarantee of up to Rs 45,000 without any interest for a gig worker to purchase an electric scooter or a loan of Rs 5,000 for the actual ex-showroom price of the electric scooter, whichever is lower.
Rs 1 Crore Martyred Family: The CM declared that the ex-gratia amount provided to families of soldiers martyred in war will be increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
Other Announcements: Proposal to distribute one drone to each women’s self-help group during the year 2024-25. The government has allocated 33% reservation for women applicants in fair price ration shops, with priority given to acid attack victims and widows. Furthermore, the construction tender for the 800 MW Armal Power Plant in Yamunanagar, announced in 2023-24, has been awarded to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited for Rs 6,000 crore. The target is to install an additional 70,000 solar pumps under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan (PMKUSUM) in 2024-25. The pension for media workers has been raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month, benefiting 193 media persons currently. CM Manohar Lal also announced an interest and penalty waiver on loans exceeding five lakh for farmers who repay their loans by 31st May 2024 after depositing them by 30th September 2023.
