Patna, January 24, 2024: A state-level event was organized in the premises of the Bihar Legislative Assembly on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur. In the official ceremony held in the courtyard, Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar offered flowers at his life-size statue, expressing their sincere homage.
On this occasion, various dignitaries, including Assembly Speaker Shri Avadh Bihari Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Finance, Commerce and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Rural Development Minister Shri Shravan Kumar, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Smt. Lesi Singh, Transport Minister Smt. Sheela Kumari, Information Technology Minister Shri Israel Mansoori, Deputy Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly Shri Maheshwar Hazari, Deputy Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council Shri Ramchandra Purve, Member of Legislative Assembly Smt. Kumud Verma, Former Minister Shri Shyam Rajak, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, and additional advisor to the Chief Minister Shri Manish Kumar Verma, along with other public representatives and dignitaries, also paid their heartfelt tributes by placing flowers at the life-size statue of Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur.
At this event, a book review based on personalities in Bihar whose state-level events are organized was conducted by dignitaries including Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar.
Following this, Bihar songs and hymns were sung by artists from the Department of Information and Public Relations, offering prayers and singing songs based on the personality and achievements of Jan Nayak.
Later, a program was organized by the Department of Arts, Culture, and Youth at the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Memorial Museum on Deshratna Road, where Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Assembly Speaker Shri Avadh Bihari Choudhary, Energy Minister Shri Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Finance, Commerce and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Minister of Arts, Culture, and Youth Shri Jitendra Kumar Rai, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Smt. Lesi Singh, Transport Minister Smt. Sheela Kumari, Law Minister Shri Shamim Ahmad, Deputy Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council Shri Ramchandra Purve, Member of Legislative Assembly Smt. Kumud Verma, Former Minister Shri Shyam Rajak, and other dignitaries and respected individuals also paid their homage to Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur by placing flowers at his statue.
On this occasion, the Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Advisor to the Chief Minister Shri Manish Kumar Verma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Arts, Culture, and Youth, Smt. Harjot Kaur, Patna Commissioner Shri Kumar Ravi, District Magistrate of Patna Shri Chandrasekhar Singh, and Senior Police Superintendent Shri Rajiv Mishra were present, along with many social workers and respected individuals, including relatives of Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur.
During the event, a short film titled ‘Karpoori Thakur: Messiah of the Poor,’ based on the life of Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, was presented. The program also featured devotional singing and hymns.
