The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced a “bagless school” initiative, which will be implemented once a week for students in classes 1 to 12 starting from the upcoming academic session in 2024-25. This program aims to reduce students’ stress by allowing them to participate in sports, games, cultural activities, and more at school. The state government has issued an official notice detailing the weight limits for students’ school bags based on their respective classes. Additionally, the education minister mentioned that the bag weight for younger students will be up to 2.2 kg, while older students can carry bags weighing up to 4.5 kg. The government has also mandated the implementation of the school bag policy strictly from the next academic session.
