Thrill Zone, an organization dedicated to promoting running as a legitimate sport, will host the Punjab Half Marathon 2024 on February 25th to raise awareness about drug abuse. This bi-annual event will commence at 5:30 am from Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, with participants competing in three categories: 21 km (half-marathon), 10 km, and 5 km, all of which will be timed runs. Additionally, there will be a 3 km fun run. The founder of Thrill Zone, PC Kushwaha, expressed the organization’s commitment to fostering a running culture and promoting a healthy lifestyle. All participants will receive a t-shirt, medal, participation certificate, and refreshments.
In recent news, the Ganga Half Marathon, a prominent event during the Bithoor festival on February 10th, will offer prizes of Rs 21,000 for the winner and Rs 11,000 for the runner-up. The marathon route spans from Sarsaiya Ghat crossing to Brahmavart Ghat Bithoor. Online registration is available until February 8th.
Another event, the Sunday marathon along Bada Taal, included a 10k run as part of its Run for Fun category. Over 10,000 individuals participated in this Bhopal event, which aimed to promote youth sports and fitness. Cash prizes were awarded to winners in various categories, and e-certificates were given to participants.
Meanwhile, the organizers of the Theni marathon, Freaks Sports Academy, have been booked by the police for allegedly cheating participants, resulting in protests. The academy is accused of deceiving people of up to Rs 30 lakh. Some participants disrupted traffic during the protest, leading to further legal actions.
