The inauguration of Uttar Pradesh Agrotech 2024 by the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture on March 3 marked a significant milestone in the state’s agricultural sector. Esteemed guests, including Shri Devesh Chaturvedi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, attended the inaugural ceremony.
Shri Devesh Chaturvedi emphasized the Agrotech exhibition’s role in providing comprehensive solutions to farmers, from cultivation to post-harvest management, through innovative industry initiatives. The state government’s commitment to promoting crop diversification, particularly pulses, oilseeds, millets, and maize, with assured procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) was highlighted.
With agriculture covering 12% of the state’s total area and contributing 20% of the country’s production, Shri Chaturvedi reiterated the government’s dedication to promoting agricultural prosperity and sustainable growth in Uttar Pradesh. Leveraging advanced technology to reduce costs and increase yields was emphasized to benefit farmers. The importance of civil societies and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in providing training sessions to educate farmers on effective implementation of these practices was also underscored.
Dr. MJ Khan highlighted the crucial role of Industry-FPOs partnerships in strengthening agriculture and harnessing technological potential. Dr. Asappa Vishwanathan, Director of the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, expressed optimism that Uttar Pradesh Agrotech 2024 would be a transformative event for agriculture, offering farmers valuable insights through technology demonstrations and product showcases.
Dr. Anesh Kumar Sharma, Technical Director at ECIL, emphasized the importance of soil testing and micronutrients in boosting productivity. He introduced a groundbreaking product designed to assess soil nutrient levels for precise nutrient application.
Mukesh Singh, Managing Director of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, stressed the pivotal role of public-private partnerships in boosting exports, improving market linkages, and ensuring fair prices for farmers in alignment with the progressive policies of the Uttar Pradesh government. Mr. Tushar Sharma, Director of the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture, extended gratitude to all dignitaries, sponsors, exhibitors, and visitors for their support.
