The honorarium of 25 thousand UPNL employees in the state will see a 10 percent increase. Approval has been granted by the Finance Department. Secretary of Soldier Welfare, Deependra Choudhary, mentioned that a government order for the honorarium increase will be issued promptly.
For a long time, UPNL employees in the state have been advocating for various demands, including a 20 percent annual increase in their honorarium. The employees recently staged an eight-day strike to press for their pending demands. They emphasized the need for the government to implement the Cabinet sub-committee’s report, withdraw the Supreme Court SLP, and adhere to the High Court’s order.
The termination of any UPNL employee’s service should be avoided. In the event of a sewerage employee’s demise, the deceased’s dependents should be offered job opportunities. Following Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s assurance to increase the honorarium by 10 percent and establish a committee for addressing other demands, the employees postponed their agitation. Secretary of Soldier Welfare, Deependra Chaudhary, confirmed the approval of the proposal to raise UPNL employees’ honorarium by the Finance Department.
To address the employees’ other demands, a committee headed by the Chief Secretary has been formed by the government. It is anticipated that the committee will present its findings to the government soon.
