Five women were seriously injured yesterday when a leopard attacked them in the Kirtinagar development block of Tehri district in Uttarakhand. The women have been hospitalized for treatment, causing a commotion in the area. Reports suggest that the women were gathering grass near Naithana village when they were ambushed by the leopard, resulting in severe injuries. Thankfully, the women were able to defend themselves by throwing stones at the leopard.
Upon hearing the women’s cries, villagers rushed to the scene and took them to the hospital. Village head Sanjay Rawat mentioned that Meghna (27), Sumitra (30), and Sammapata Devi (70) were the victims of the leopard attack while collecting grass near Naithana.

Villagers Call for Forest Department to Install Cage
The Forest Officer of the Forest Division stated that due to previous leopard sightings, the Forest Department had already initiated a search operation in the forest. Forest Department personnel were patrolling near the incident site on Friday, and a request has been made to higher authorities for the installation of a cage. Dr. Ajay Vikram Singh from Base Hospital confirmed that the condition of the injured women is stable, and they have been discharged after receiving first aid.
