Eat That Frog

It is a book about how to overcome procrastination and get more done in less time by focusing on your most important tasks. The book title comes from a quote by Mark Twain: “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.”

  • The frog represents your biggest, most important task that you are most likely to procrastinate on. Eating the frog means tackling that task first thing in the morning and completing it before moving on to anything else.
  • The book offers 21 practical tips to help you identify your frogs, plan your day, prioritize your tasks, and take action without delay. Some of the tips are:
Set clear, written goals and review them daily.
  • Plan your day in advance and work from a list.
  • Apply the 80/20 rule and focus on the 20% of tasks that generate 80% of your results.
  • Consider the consequences and work on the tasks that have the most long-term impact on your life and work.
  • Practice creative procrastination and deliberately postpone or delegate the tasks that are not important or urgent.
  • Use the ABCDE method to assign a value to each task and do them in order of importance.
  • Focus on key result areas and work on the tasks that contribute to your main areas of responsibility and performance.
  • Apply the law of three and identify the three most important tasks that you must do each day.
  • The book also provides strategies to overcome common obstacles such as lack of motivation, distractions, interruptions, perfectionism, and fear of failure.
  • The book emphasizes that the key to success is not to try to do everything, but to focus fully on the most vital tasks, take action, and complete them well.
